About this audiobook
It has been almost a year since the Amish community of Pleasant Valley lost Ezra Brand to a tragic accident. Since then, his wife, Rachel, has struggled to raise their three children and run their dairy farm…
Rachel's friends and family have come forward to help - Rachel's friend Leah, who is now married and expecting a child; Ezra's brothers, who work on the farm; and Rachel's parents, who are no strangers to grief after their only son, Johnny, left the Amish community. But their constant advice, however well-intentioned, puts undue pressure on Rachel. And when Gideon Zook - Ezra's best friend, who survived the accident - asks her permission to build the greenhouse that Ezra had always promised her, she finds his presence too painful a reminder of the past.
As spring turns to summer, and Rachel puts her heart into growing the flowers and plants that have always brought her joy, can she discover the courage to make her own choices…and embrace new beginnings?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In this book was a very good story written to show the audience love & perseverance.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Book 2 in this series, which could be read as a stand alone, but you won't have the background of all the characters in the story unless you read them in the order written. A very good look of what life is like for those raised Amish. It is not an easy life at times and the author does a good job of showing the good and the bad in this kind of life.Rachel has lost her husband, and his best friend, Ezra, was with him when he died and couldn't save him from his accident. Rachel is finding it hard to not blame Ezra, even though there wasn't anything he could have done. And Ezra is bound and determined to be there to help Rachel and her family, in honor of his best friend who died. So there is instant conflict there between these two. But Ezra sets out to build her a greenhouse so she can make some money to keep their farm. In the midst of their growing attraction to each other, Rachel has a lot of difficult decisions to make and she will eventually start to lean on Ezra for help.I like how this author writes as once I start reading, I want to see what will happen next. Living the Amish way is not easy, but I have learned to appreciate how the author gives an honest open look into the real things these people deal with in their families. Looking forward to reading all 7 stories in this series.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was pretty obvious from the beginning how this book would end. Still, it was an interesting tale – it just took a bit too long to get there. There were a couple of elements that were surprising, but most were predictable. Some additional story lines would have been welcome. It was like taking the scenic route home: it was nice for a while, but after meandering around, the same stuff got boring and you just wanted to get to the end.
