A.A. Milne

A.A.Milne was born in London in 1882 and became a highly successful writer of plays, poems and novels. He based Winnie-the-Pooh, Piglet and friends on the real nursery toys of his son Christopher Robin and published the first book of their adventures together in 1926. Since then, Pooh has become a world-famous bear, and Milne’s stories have been translated into seventy-two languages.

The book consists of 45 beautifully written poems. The poems rhymes and are a great introduction to poetry for children. The illustrations are pretty and delicate in the book. The illustrations go well with the poem. The full-color illustrations are very eye catching. Highly recommended for children age 2-7.

This is one of my favorite collections of poetry because it reflects a different time and place than my own; and the book itself is beautiful.

This is a compilation of two books "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six". In this edition the original illustrations have been hand painted in gentle watercolours. These poems are a delight, a joy. They are very much written from a small child's point of view. The poems have rhythm and are very fun to read and easy for a child to remember after hearing repeatedly. Overall, the poems are happy, playful, funny and sometimes slightly cheeky. We have had a lot of fun reading these and I think it is time spent together that we will always remember. Highly recommended to read aloud.
