… Tune into one of our most promising acts?

The first concert you went to? I went to see Coldplay at Festival Hall in Melbourne when I was 16 for their Parachutes tour back in 2001. I remember, hands down. Portishead, Liz Phair, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Wonder and Sam Phillips … so good. Favourite song cover? I heard Billie Eilish do a cover of Phantogram’s “You Don’t Get Me High Anymore” recently. Her delivery was magic. A song that gets you on the dance floor? “This is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan. A song that’s proven useful during heartbreak? “It’s Okay” by Land of Talk. Cried a lot to that one a few years ago. Some lyrics that are resonating with you right now? “No you don’t judge me … ’Cause if you did, baby, I would judge you too … ’Cause I got issues … But you got ’em too … So give ’em all to me … And I’ll give mine to you” from Julia Michaels’s song “Issues”. The music you listened to most while putting together your new album? Lily Allen, Liz Phair, The Breeders, Weezer, Hole and the Pixies. Last live show you went to? Phoenix or The Breeders. I can’t remember which was the last, but both were great. Last record you played from start to finish? I rediscovered by The Smashing Pumpkins while driving through America recently. It’s so brilliant. The electronic elements that Billy Corgan introduced to this record were really ahead of the time.

Music
WITH SIX YEARS BETWEEN THEM, Josh and Amy Dowdle might have fallen into an annoying-big-brother/pesky-younger-sister relationship. But they’ve managed to avoid that dynamic entirely: not only do they write music together, which they travel the globe
