It’s November 2023, and Tania Miller is at the helm of her first educational concert for the Brott Festival. She strides onstage, greeted by 2,000 screaming fans. As she waves and calls out, “Hello, boys and girls! How are you doing today?”, more enthusiastic cheers erupt from the crowd. Smiling, she responds,

One month before this concert, Miller was appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of Brott Music Festival and its two national Canadian training programs—the National Academy Orchestra of Canada and BrottOpera. Miller has a Doctorate and Masters degree in Conducting from the University of Michigan, an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Royal Roads University, and an Honorary Fellowship Diploma from Canada’s Royal Conservatory of Music. The wealth of experience she brings to this position is impressive: Assistant and Associate Conductor for Vancouver Symphony, Music Director of Canada’s Victoria Symphony for 14 years, and guest conductor in orchestras and chamber orchestras
