CITROEN DISPATCH
Starting problems
Q I am writing to you to ask for help with my 2012 2.0 HDi Citroën Dispatch van with 106,000 miles. Recently it has started to have an intermittent problem starting. This only happens on the first start of the day, where the engine doesn’t fire, it just turns over and over for about 10 seconds, then starts. After this the engine runs perfectly and will start the rest of the day fine. The fuel mpg has remained the same and the DPF regens are happening after the same mileage, so I assume when running there isn’t a fault?
The problem also only happens maybe once a week but has got worse as the weather has dropped below 8°C. There was a fault code PF P2291Rise in pressure in the injector rail is too slow on starting.
I monitored the live data during a non-start and the injectors timings are zero and the fuel pressure is only a steady 4bar rather than the requested 400bar! The fuel filter was replaced 8000 miles ago, so I assume this is OK.
Any help would be appreciated as it’s my work van and I need it to be reliable. Mark
A Poor starting when cold, with no fault codes is normally down to one of two things. The first is that the chamber is not pre-heating sufficiently and the second is an incorrect fuel delivery.
As this has deteriorated with the colder weather it may be due to
