Placing my hand on my belly, I prepared to break some exciting news.
Sitting in my Tennessee home with my daughter Emerie, five, me and my husband Demarcus, 37, were beaming.
‘Emerie, you’re going to be a big sister,’ I said. ‘Mummy has a baby in her belly.’
Instantly, her eyes lit up.
‘Is it time for baby sister to come yet?’ she asked.
Giggling, I loved that she couldn’t wait to meet her younger sibling – and it was so fitting that our baby was a girl, too.
We’d found out her gender during a blood test at 14 weeks.
Emerie will make a fantastic big sister.
Whenever we went to the park, she’d grin at any baby she saw.
And constantly cuddling her baby dolls, she had strong maternal instincts.
Imagining Emerie holding her sister made my heart swell.
Although falling pregnant for a second time was a surprise for me and Demarcus, we wouldn’t
