Ozempic: What are weight loss injections and how can I get them?

Appetite suppressing drugs are becoming a hot topic of conversation, with doctors now suggesting they could have important clinical benefits not just limited to weight loss.

A new five-year study has found the drugs, sold under the brand names such as Wegovy, Ozempic and Rybelsus, could also reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes or heart failure in obese people regardless of the amount of weight they lose.

NHS doctors are able to prescribe two different weight loss jab medications, liraglutide (also called Saxenda) and semaglutide (also called Wegovy). But under what circumstances can you be given them in the UK?
