“Sometimes quilters want to make quilts that are not large, full bed quilts and sometimes they want transportable projects that are not chained to a sewing machine, especially as the weather warms up and sitting out in the garden sewing looks possible. So here is the perfect project – you can stitch it by hand or machine or have both stitching in one quilt!

“Joseph’s Coat is a fairly traditional pattern that no doubt has biblical roots with its coat of many colours. This project is a fantastic opportunity to make a scrappy quilt – or you can follow my lead and pull out fat quarters you have been collecting and wondering how best to show off. In my case, I chose to work with Liberty quilting cottons, which I had been squirrelling away and waiting for a suitable project. It is a craft cotton weight fabric and easier to work with on curves than its slightly more fluid cousin Liberty Tana Lawn, whilst still offering the usual deliciously beautiful Liberty prints.
