BEAUTIFUL BALTIMORE

BEHIND THE QUILT

BABY STEPS

“I have had a long love affair with Baltimore Album quilts; I can’t explain how much I like them! There were some hanging the first time I saw quilts displayed during a student trip to New York. We were a group of silversmithing and jewellery students heading for an exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design. We passed through a quilt exhibition hanging high above our heads, and I was mesmerised; the red and green Baltimore quilts had me hooked from that moment. How many have I made? None, before this one! Ever the optimist and thinking I’d have time to hand sew a quilt when I had just had a baby, I started one, but it became a cushion.

“ love to offer gifts that inspire and encourage, and so I designed some Baltimore Album templates to optimistically encourage you to start building those blocks. One thing I have learnt over the years in quilt making is that beautiful things come together. So, decide which technique is your favourite and enjoy making your own version of a Baltimore Album quilt.”
