A “HUMAN WAVE” TRENCH ASSAULT SCENARIO WWI ON THE EASTERN FRONT

hese various resources inspired me to build a large 5-foot by 4.5-foot highly detailed Great War trench board (see information about the board in sidebar below). Before I began the project, I decided I wanted to design the board so that it could be used for both the European Western and Eastern Front. Given this plan, it is built with a cold, muddy, wet, wintery mix theme, perfect for either front. I also allowed for a key feature, a destroyed church, to be swapped out to give an Eastern or Western front impression. Russian infantry miniatures by several companies, many books, articles, and the recently released Firelock Games' Great War rules and army list expansion contributed to this venture. The expansion features stats for the Eastern Front armies, including Russians, Germans, and Austrians. Several of the other key resources and books that inspired this game board and scenario include: Too Fat by Chris Stoesen, by Douglas Boyd, by Nik Cornish, Norman Stone.
