Test: Korg KAOSS Replay

Korg seems to be returning to its older, but proven concepts. In addition to the new editions of the Micro-Korg and the KingKorg, the KAOSS pad also receives new honors. The Japanese introduced this innovative effects device, in which several parameters can be controlled simultaneously using an X/Y touchpad with your fingers, in 1999. The last new edition, the KP3+, is now over 10 years old. The KAOSS pads have not only proven themselves on the DJ console, but are also often used by musicians. The Radiohead hit “Everything In Its Right Place” is remembered not only because of the succinct Prophet5 riff, but also because of the vocals, dynamically altered using a KAOSS pad.

No „production center”

At first glance, KAOSS Replay, with its newly added 16 velocity-sensitive sample pads with colored LED lighting, is reminiscent of performance samplers such as Roland SP-404 or Akai MPC.
