TECHNIQUE FOCUS

Basting a quilt involves temporarily securing the three layers of a quilt together in preparation for quilting. Securing the quilt top, batting and backing fabric together stops the movement of these three layers and reduces issues such as puckers and warped blocks. Taking the time to baste properly will improve the quilting finish and lead to a more pleasurable quilting experience.
