I gasped as my partner, Andie, then 26, dropped down on one knee, producing a sparkling engagement ring. ‘Will you marry me?’ he asked.

‘Yes,’ I said in tears.

Amazingly he’d organised a photographer to capture the romantic proposal on Merewether Beach, Newcastle, on New Year’s Eve 2021.

Thrilled, we set a date for September 2023.

Living in Dubbo, we had our hearts set on getting married at Taronga
