Discernibly bitter, flavoursome and rich, the taste of coffee is a hug in a mug on bleary-eyed mornings.

While many are accustomed to the warming sensation of a freshly brewed blend, most of us remain unaware as to where our coffee came from.

South America is the top coffee grower, with countries such as Brazil, Honduras and Peru topping the charts for coffee production. However, as interest in sustainability increases, more consumers want to know exactly where and how their morning cuppa has been made.

Shopping specifically for organic coffee is a great start. Brands that produce organic coffee typically ensure that their production chain is ethical and transparent, in addition to being rid of any nasty chemicals used to grow their coffee beans.
