SHAK ATTACK

BOXING returned to Magna for the second successive week, with ambitious promoter Izzy Asif serving up highly enjoyable fare to another sizeable crowd.

Appropriately topping the bill at a venue that was a steelworks in a previous life, was Sheffield’s ‘Dr Steel’, Shakiel Thompson, against Bulgarian Vladimir Georgiev, who gave him quite a fight.

Keeping it long, Thompson opened an early lead. While Georgiev was having some success, it was initially too rare, and his shots were falling short too frequently.
