Painting project

Chatsworth in Derbyshire is a very busy place but, if you know where to look, there are still quiet corners and routes away from the crowds, and the photo (above) shows one of them. As this area is quite close to home, I often find myself with sketchbook in hand, patrolling the hedgerows, looking for a sublime view or interesting vista, or come away with a camera full of useful photographs.

So let's take a quick look at all the elements in this photo: a tall backlit tree, hedges vanishing around the corner, a gate with possible perspective challenges, a cute house, deep cool shadows, and rifts of fallen leaves. There is even a chicken in the distance if you look
