Subject in flight

I sat flicking through my collection of field sketchbooks from my travels, looking for ideas for a small painting, something summery or at least of warmer climes. A field sketchbook can transport you to a place in your mind's eye, because when you sketch, you take the time to observe very carefully any subject you are depicting. And those observation memories are re-kindled when perusing your sketches. I am a bit of a field sketching addict, especially in new places with fresh sensory inspiration, and have a couple of suitcases brimming with full sketchbooks.
