Pascal Raffy, the owner of Bovet 1822, considers the dragon to be a symbol of hope, wisdom, power, and kindness. That’s why Bovet has crafted a striking dragon-themed timepiece for this year, housed in its unique Dimier writing desk case and with a name that hints at the pursuit of perfection. The Chinese adage of “appointing the eyes of the painted dragon” is wonderfully expressed in the Récital 26 Chapter Two Golden Dragon. The Récital 26 features a flying tourbillon that can be viewed from both sides of the case, as well as a world time complication, moonphase display, and radial guidance system.
The voluminous movement works with the watch’s case, which is wider at the top and narrows down at the lower lugs. In the Golden Dragon model, the dial is designed to present a micro-sculpted dragon that hovers over the moonphase indicator and sits right above the tourbillon. Its detail is incredible, with a fire-red ruby eye that’s set into the sculpture, which is, in turn, assembled around the movement. On the back of the watch, its stunning manually wound movement is showcased with an incredible decorative technique that reminds one of the scales of a dragon, all over the bridges of the movement.
The Récital 26 Chapter Two Golden Dragon is equipped with the 17DM06-DT movement with a world time complication on a separate hemispherical dome display at 3 o’clock and a power reserve of five days. It’s restricted to just 12 pieces globally, in three dial options of blue quartz, aventurine, and a blue guilloché pattern.
