GETAWAY TRAVEL GETAWAY
HAVING ARRIVED at our site in Skegness, we set up and ate lunch. The forecast was for a wet day, so we thought we'd start with some indoor attractions and visit the North Sea Observatory at Chapel St Leonards.
The observatory is a stunning modern building, with glass walls overlooking the sea. Refreshments are served inside. There was a craft fair and an interesting exhibition about local fishing, farming and tourism, and the growth of shipping in the region.
After a stroll along the shore, admiring the colourful beach huts, we returned to Skegness, where the bustling town has amusement arcades, fairground rides and a ‘Kiss Me Quick!’ ambience. We headed for the aquarium on the seafront, where sharks, dogfish and other tropical species were being fed in the main pool.
Two divers were swimming among the colourful fish and we were staggered by the different species from around the world. My favourites were the beautiful lionfish, a colourful triggerfish and a moray eel. The clownfish are
