Classic Motorcycle Mechanics

Special K!

Now the stock Z900 is finished I can start what for me is a build I have wanted to do for a very long time.

I have built custom bikes for others, but I have never built a full-on Big Zed special for myself before. I’m doing real custom building – by which I mean that I won’t be using CNC machined goodies from catalogues, nor will I be ‘enhancing’ the handling of my bike by bolting on parts from more modern bikes. I will not be aping the Japanese Sanctuary bikes, (nothing wrong with those who choose to do that) because I want to make something truly unique and a genuine expression of my thoughts and skills. I am trying to build a bike that could have been built in the early to mid-1980s. I admit to have taken a few liberties along the way, including the insides of the front forks, but more on that later.
