A major factor contributing to inflation's decline to its lowest point in 2.5 years has been the decrease in food prices.
The cost of living increased by 3.2 per cent in March, compared to 3.4 per cent in the previous month, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
While the cost of some items – such as meat, chocolate biscuits, crumpets, household items and furniture fell – others including petrol and diesel prices increased.
