IN AUSTRALIA, you retire at 65. Well, you used to, and when John Howard’s knee-jerk gun laws were enacted in 1996 Nick Harvey hit retirement age, the point at which many Aussies would cash in their last pay cheque and settle back for a few years of pensioned relaxation. The 1996 gun laws forced a lot of gun dealers into retirement, too, or into any other business than firearms. It was a dire time to be a shooter.
