Potatoes

Potatoes are categorised by the season in which they’re ready to harvest.

Early – or new potatoes – are planted in March and harvested in late May to early July.

Maincrop potatoes take longer to mature. Plant them in April and harvest in late summer/early autumn for crops to store into winter.

Grow your crop from seed potatoes, which are small tubers rather than seeds. They go on sale in late winter. Don’t be tempted
