While the World Rally Championship is going through a rocky patch just at the moment, its feeder series, the European championship, is thriving.
The bumper entry for this weekend’s season opener in Hungary includes 28 Rally2 cars, there’s a crop of homegrown heroes to support and a round in Wales to look forward to in August. Or, as defending champion Hayden Paddon, puts it, “there’s a lot of very cool rallies and, to be blunt, a lot less politics.”
