VolksWorld Show

The daffodils are blooming, sheep are lambing and the big fireball in the sky is finally beginning to give us a bit of warmth. More importantly than all of that, across the land there’s a distant rumble of flat-four engines starting up. Many for the first time since winter descended upon us, which seems like 89 years ago.

Mother Nature provides us with many signs of spring, but humans standing in t-shirts on the rooftop bar at Sandown Park, sipping drinks while admiring some of the best air-cooled VWs in the world is some of her finest work. Yes folks, the season opener we’ve all been waiting for has now been and gone. Behold The VolksWorld Plus Show.

You know we always like to grab your attention as soon as you enter the hallowed hall of Sandown Park, and this year was no exception. Spencer Pritchard’s awesome Oval cover star welcomed you all with open windows and a huge smile. Glance to the right and your eyes would have settled upon one of only two SO23 Westfalia Campers from the first year of production known. The '58, owned by Wayne Hammond, was displayed with a full camping pack and Westy trailer.

As if that only known example of its type anywhere in the world, and a rare 1943 Type 82E from the Heyman Collection. Yes, things got off to a roaring start.
