BLUE MOUNTAINS
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Blue Mountains libraries have introduced a new kit that helps you check for water leaks, high energy items, costly behaviours and other building design and insulation flaws in your home, community building or business
Blaxland resident Ray Gilmour approached Council with the idea of introducing a kit to the local library system after reading about similar versions on an energy efficiency Facebook group.
The kit contains: A thermal imaging camera (FLIR) to detect areas of energy loss in the home, a power meter to measure the energy used by specific appliances, a stopwatch for calculating water use, an energy-saving thermometer to check your rooms, fridge and freezer and a step-by-step instruction guide.
SIX FOOT TRACK
The iconic Six Foot Track in the world heritage-listed Blue Mountains will receive a much-needed boost with the awarding of a $802,740 tender to Carters General Engineering Pty Ltd to rebuild the Bowtells Swing Bridge.
It was closed for safety last year after an engineering assessment.
The new bridge will largely replicate the original design but renew and upgrade the 32-year-old structure to ensure it meets the latest Australian standards.
Construction work is due to start on site
