BLUE MOUNTAINS
AUSTRALIA DAY
There are now two more chances to celebrate a local hero this Australia Day.
Two new categories in the Blue Mountains Local Australia Day 2020 Awards celebrate our older citizens and those protecting our environment, with awards for Senior Citizen of The Year (65 year+) and Environmental Citizen of the Year (any age).
The Blue Mountains Local Australia Day Awards are held each year to recognise and reward citizens who demonstrate a consistent record of excellence and outstanding achievements, contributing in a significant way to the Blue Mountains community.
The awards will be announced at the annual Australia Day Awards presentation and Citizenship Ceremony, to be held at the Blue Mountains Theatre & Hub on Sunday, 26 January 2019.
PLANET YOUTH
Blue Mountains City Council is supporting the roll out of Planet Youth program that advocates for community-led wellness of our young people, across a broad range of issues.
Developed in Iceland, the model takes an evidence-based approach to particularly reduce the uptake of alcohol and other drugs amongst young people.
The first phase of the model relies on the collection of data to provide baseline information about young people’s protective and risk factors. This is compiled using an anonymous online survey distributed to Year 10
