Experts’ advice

Fordson E27N

Q I have taken on a TVO-powered Fordson Major E27N, which has been standing in an old barn, unused, for many years.

Since taking delivery I have been going over it with a view to get it up and running and have a few issues. Firstly, I discovered that the radiator header tank is full of chewed up paper and bits of plastic, presumably due to the presence of mice nesting. Fortunately, the engine cranks over on the handle, but there isn’t a spark at the plugs.

Also, the compression is erratic, and I don’t think there’s compression on all four cylinders. I’m not overly familiar with this model and would appreciate some advice.
