The Australian GP promoters have accepted the event’s demotion from its traditional slot as the season’s curtainraiser (logistics dictate two rounds in the Middle East up front now), but drivers appear to have been slower to catch on. A first-day-at-school vibe prevails, as evinced by last year’s event which featured three red-flag stoppages.
