I HAD A bottle of Muscadet the other day and couldn’t stop smiling. Well, I didn’t quite have the whole bottle; I shared it with my chum Nigel. The point is that I can’t remember when I last had such a wine and, whenever it was, it certainly wasn’t as tasty as this.
Admittedly, I’d already sunk a Kir Royale and a pastis, so my judgement might have been slightly skewed. But alongside a large plate of and some crusty French bread and a cornichon or so, it hit the spot perfectly – fresh, crisp, clean and fruity – and I wondered why I didn’t have Muscadet more often.
