Family attacked, robbed during power outage

A PHOENIX family this week told how being without electricity had rendered them sitting ducks against a violent home-invasion.

Even worse, they were unable to get help afterwards as their home alarm system and panic buttons had died because of the power outage.

Residents in Westham, Phoenix, have been without power since March 3 due to a cable fault, which has still not been repaired due to the ongoing municipal workers’ strike.

Shamila Belliraj said the entire area was plunged into darkness around 11pm and had resulted in her house alarm going offline.
