After the devastating fires of 2019 that decimated Southern Ocean Lodge, the luxe property on the south coast of Kangaroo Island has now reopened. The new iteration of the retreat has almost the same footprint, with 25 luxurious suites strung like a necklace along the coastline with uninterrupted views of the Southern Ocean. New to the property is the ultra-premium Ocean Pavilion – a four-bedroom owner’s residence for families and friends travelling together. Born again are the Southern Spa, gymnasium, sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. Sustainable initiatives include boosted rainwater capture, solar power generation and the establishment of more than 45,000 native plants.
