POLICE need to prioritise intelligence gathering to solve murders, and provide adequate training to new detectives, crime experts say.
Gareth Newham, a crime expert from the Institute for Security Studies, said that last year, police managed to solve only 12.4% of murder cases compared with the 31% they solved in 2012.
