LEFT ALMOST PENNILESS

HE’S still reeling from how quickly it happened – one day he was a well-off businessman and the next he was virtually penniless after thieves got into his bank accounts and stole everything they could. The nightmare started for well-known Gauteng chef Fortunato Mazzone when he was sitting in a popular Pretoria coffee shop with his wife, Veralda, enjoying a milkshake after a busy day at work.

He was looking at something on his cellphone and didn’t notice a person sneaking up behind him. His phone was snatched from his hand and the thief ran out of the restaurant and escaped in a waiting car.

Fortunato reported the theft to the police and
