NEW WORLD BANK MANAGING DIRECTOR

Senior financier Zhang Wencai was appointed the World Bank (WB) Group’s managing director and chief administrative officer on February 20. According to the WB, Zhang will oversee the group’s budget, planning and strategy, as well as information and technology services.

Born in 1964, Zhang began his career at the WB Department of the Chinese Ministry of Finance in 1989. In late 2018, he became head of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation at the ministry.
