AVET CHECK, otherwise known as a pre-purchase examination (PPE) or vetting, is a comprehensive health assessment conducted by a vet on a horse before it is purchased. The aim is to assess the horse's overall health, soundness and suitability for its future role. Whether the horse is intended for riding, competition, breeding, or other purposes, a PPE provides a crucial step towards allowing the prospective purchaser to make an informed decision about sealing the deal or walking away. The vet acts on behalf of the purchaser, and the findings and the outcome of the vetting remain confidential to the buyer.
After the vethas performedthe PPE, they assess the findings and form an opinion as to their relevance and any possible negatives thatmay affect the intended future useof the horse. Thevet will then either relaythe findings and their opinion to the purchaser in person
