Health expert warns of fake Covid adverts

FAKE social media posts claiming that people were dying as a result of the Covid-19 vaccine and that an unregulated, natural over-the-counter product was a solution to prevent such deaths, are just a “quick money making scam”.

Epidemiologist and virologist, Professor Salim Abdool Karim, has warned the public not to be taken in by fake adverts with his photographs that are being used as a “marketing tool”, for products claiming to prevent alleged Covid related deaths.

Karim, who chairs the South African (SA) Ministerial Advisory Committee on Covid-19, said he had been tasked to investigate the fake posts and misleading advertising claims.
