ONE of India’s top ghazal singers, the internationally-renowned Pankaj Udhas, died on February 26 after a lengthy illness.
He became popular in South Africa after he performed to packed houses in neighbouring Swaziland in the 1980s, because India did not allow its citizens to visit South Africa in the apartheid era.
