TRAVEL TRENDS NEW REASONS TO GO ON A HOLIDAY

People are putting their money in leisure travel this year, according to a global survey conducted by Hilton, the multinational hospitality company, and Ipsos, the multinational market research company.

And across generations, most say their number-one reason to travel this year is to rest and recharge. There is a lot of emphasis on sleep. That may seem a little odd. Surely you can sleep when you're at home (or when you're dead, according to a particular brand of hedonism in the ’80s)?

Not so, say Hilton and Ipsos, which surveyed more than 10 000 travellers from nine countries as well as dozens of Hilton travel experts. They found four themes.
