GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES

Trying to avoid eye contact, I mustered up the courage to admit something.

‘I don’t ever want children,’ I confessed to my date John, now 40, in 2016.

A traditional African man, with a huge extended family just like me, he was in shock.

‘Maybe we can change that,’ he sniggered.

Only, I didn’t have the heart to tell him that I was lying through my teeth.

I wanted children more than anything else in the world.

However, the sad truth was that it was highly unlikely that I’d ever be able to conceive naturally – news that had immediately sent me into a deep depression.

Always in a huge amount of pain during my period, something that started in my late 20s, my whole body would ache from my head to my toes.
