I have enjoyed reading the A–Z of Steam Vehicles in Old Glory compiled by Nick Baldwin – a tremendous piece of research clearly undertaken over many years.

In 403, Alan Rundle queries the steam carriage built by Carrett, Marshall & Co. Alan is no doubt correct about the drawing accompanying Nick’s piece being a Tuxford so I thought I ought to send in the correct line drawing! As Nick says, the carriage was built for George Salt (of the Salt family who created Saltaire – now a World Heritage site) and had “parallel springs on the front forks.” This arrangement (together with the attached that was reprinted in 1972 by David & Charles, to whom acknowledgements are due.
