This has been another brilliant year for horology across all segments of the industry. Even as the market reports a cooling of prices in the pre-owned segment and a dip in demand, watchmakers are focused on crafting the best timepieces they can. There have been many surprises this year, from Tissot’s forged carbon Sidereal to Rolex’s 24 Hours of Le Mans centennial edition Daytona. And we’re guessing more lies ahead in 2024 as new trends, such as fully luminous dials, gain momentum.
Among micro- and independent brands, there are stellar performers as well. In fact, amidst consolidation among bigger groups, independent watchmaking is stealing the spotlight with provocative designs and stunningly handsome models. Picking one watch in each category is always a challenge. Nevertheless, here are our editors’ personal favourites for this year.
