CAMERA HOUSE 40TH ANNIVERSARY NEW BRANDING FOR A NEW ERA

Established in 1983 and now with 53 stores around Australia, Camera House has been dedicated to providing photographers – and now also video-makers – with reliable service and competitive prices. It has been an ongoing policy of the group to have sales staff who are also keen photo enthusiasts and so better understand the needs and wants of customers. Camera House also runs its own annual photography awards for staff members, and the company very much sees itself as an active member of the Australian photographic community.

As photo enthusiasts, we all know that the last four decades have been a time of many significant changes in both photography and in retailing, making it doubly challenging for anybody running a camera store. Adam Walters doesn’t just have one camera store to oversee, but five!

The Garricks Camera House group comprises two shops on the Sunshine Coast at Maroochydore and Loganholme, and three in north Queensland at Cairns, Townsville and Mackay. Adam joined the operation in 2004, working on the sales floor at the Maroochydore store and has since progressed to be the majority shareholder of the business.

As it happens, Adam and his team also have involvement in another four stores around Queensland, providing assistance in a numberWinter (Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Toowoomba) and Chris Morgan (Helensvale). Chris and Dale were both previously employees of Garricks Camera House who purchased stores from the group and have gone on to build very successful businesses of their own.
