A corner of England

I have been visiting and painting in East Anglia for over 20 years. My first further education post was as a lecturer in building at Mid Essex Technical College in Chelmsford. My wife, Pat, and I bought our first home in the rural market town of Halstead which was situated in the north of the county, not far from the border with Suffolk. Later in life, when I became a painter, I once again returned to this corner of England to teach at Dedham Hall, Big Sky Art, and other locations along the coast of Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk.

I visit Dedham Hall several times a year in order to teach pastel, watercolour, and acrylic. Unfortunately, as most of these visits are from spring to autumn, I have never seen the village in snow. Winter in Dedham (right) was painted from my imagination, using a summer photograph for architectural reference.
