Although the club was founded in 1895, it was not until the late 1920s that it would relocate to play over this glorious expanse of gently undulating heathlandmile or so to the north of the current site, an enjoyable test in its own right that is nowadays the home of Rushmere Golf Club. James Braid was called back for the move, and it is largely his subtle and very pleasing design that is still enjoyed today.
