Homeowner Nicola Gill saved money on plastering by painting the exposed brick, opting for a soft pink shade that is echoed in the dining chairs and picked out in the floor tiles.

LIVING ROOM

Nicola picked out the blue of the wallpaper, by independent designer April Mawhinney, to use on the shutters. She bought the sofas secondhand from Facebook Marketplace and eBay and piled on an eclectic mix of cushions. The ’70s-style chrome light “stops the effect being too Granny’s tea shop”.
