Return of the Class 423, 4-VEP

ROM TIME to time, the release of a new model will coincide with a completely unrelated event on the mainline, and so it has proven to be the case when 4-VEP No. 3417 was hauled from Strawberry Hill to London Waterloo by two GB Railfreight Class 73s on January 27. The unit, affectionately known as ‘Gordon’, has been under restoration at Strawberry Hill depot by the Southern Electric Traction Group; a special work unit set up to restore No. 3417 which is owned by the Bluebell Railway.
