My husband is a primary school teacher so we have to take holidays outside of term time. For us in Essex, we finish for the half term on February 16, and are going away for the week - it’s a much needed break for the children and teachers. I’ve found that this week can mark the transition between the end of the worst of winter and the start of spring - well, fingers crossed anyway!

So if the weather is bitterly cold and the ground frozen solid, we will continue propagating under cover and preparing our young plants before they go to their forever homes’.
