Lucky 13 launch three-week nameplate auction bonanza

RAILWAYANA

THE mainstream railwayana auction scene opens its 2024 season with three flagship sales in March – Great Central on March 2, GW Railwayana on March 16, and Talisman a week later – and at the end of January no fewer than 37 nameplates were set to go under the hammer, with that number possibly increasing before Mike Soden opens proceedings with the GCRA auction.

That first auction will have 13 nameplates seeking new homes, comprising five from the GWR, four from No. 4051, a Star class 4-6-0 that was built in June 1914 and survived into BR ownership before being withdrawn from Worcester (85A) in October 1950.
