’54 OVAL BEETLE

Many cars hold a certain amount of sentimentality for people. With varying degrees of attachment, and for numerous reasons, we hold on to these lumps of metal and wires with a passion normally reserved for a loved one. So, when Spencer Pritchard lost his friend, boss and mentor, Clive Allen, in 2013, this 1954 Beetle took on a whole new level of meaning.

Clive started The Old Dub Shop in Bristol in 2007, and that’s where Spence worked, and their relationship blossomed. After Clive’s untimely death following a short illness, Spence took over the business and continued with Clive’s work ethic and vision. We’re sure it’s not been an easy path, but Spence stepped up admirably.

This ’54 represents that in the most visceral way possible.

It has taken two previous phases and a full restoration to bring it to where it is now, something Spence feels
